Halloween 2012

Tonight we decided to take the kids to the tri-ward trunk-or-treat that was put on by the youth. The kids had a blast going from car to car (although I think I saw more cars parked on the side than actually handing out candy)... They loved getting dressed up, and the girls loved wearing makeup.
When we got home we made a quick meatball sub dinner, and then watched "Spookly the Square Pumpkin" that I recorded on the DVR yesterday. Then the kids got ready for bed :)

Cody - Lawyer/Elders Quorum Pres. (he came straight from work)
Richelle - Katniss (from Hunger Games)
Hailey - Princess
Xander - Police Officer
Brielle - Cheerleader
Weston - Cowboy

Trunk or Treat

We just moved into the Territorial Ward, and we like it a lot. Tonight is the Trunk or Treat. We decorated Cody's truck, quickly ran to Walgreens to pick up the decor (hay, web, and a jack o lantern... and candy... since most of our things are still in boxes. The kids had a blast. After getting the candy, we went inside where there was games, treats, fishing, face painting, and all sorts of goodies. I think this will be a great ward. And of course, props to Cody and I for dressing up as well... Cody went as a Marine... big surprise :) and I went as Katniss from the Hunger Games, who I am told that I look like,... all the time...

Today was a fun day... I got eyelash extentions!!! From a place in Gilbert called Skin Gravy. Cody bought a voucher through Amazon Local after I mentioned it to him... such a sweet guy! I love having eyelashes!! :)

Porch Swing

Cody came home a little early from work, so we decided to do something... We put our porch swing together!! Thank you dad for giving it to us! It was originally given to him by his father. It is nice to have a piece of Grandpa Whitehead with me through this swing. Weston sure loves it, and we are thinking of painting it a dark brown, or staining it, but time will tell :)

Time in Utah

We went to Utah this past weekend to visit my family, and spend time with my mom on her 51st birthday (Oct. 13th)... After we arrived on Thursday, we loaded the truck and the trailer with a lot of stuff, and then we got to go on a date - we took out my dad's harley davidson, went out to eat at Cafe Zupas {YUM!} and then went to Trafalga, where we played mini-golf (I lost both balls... they landed in the water), rode the go-carts (I totally won!), and I climbed the rock wall on the expert level... (made it to the top!). Then we went to A&W to get some rootbeer... they were about to close, so they gave us the cups for free :) After we got home, we got to watch a slideshow of slides from when my dad was little.. that was a lot of fun!
Friday we played, and my mom took the three oldest to her school while she did some work. They had a blast. My dad, Cody, Valerie, Weston and I went out to eat at Chili's... had lots of fun playing and throwing the straw covers into each other's drinks... Weston got my dad with some chicken in his drink. After we got back, we took the kids and visited my grandmas... it was neat getting to embarrass my newest "official" uncles (James and Matthew were just adopted and sealed). My Grandma Whitehead just moved to American Fork a few months ago, and she gave us a tour of her home. It's like she lives in a resort... it has all the amenities :) Then we went out to eat at JCW's... burgers and ice cream... YUM! Then my parents introduced us to a new show called Revolution (on NBC)... I'll be adding it to our DVR :) it's addicting!

Saturday was my mom's birthday! We had a lot of fun... first we threw wood into my parent's woodpile, then we got ready to go to Thanksgiving Point for their Cornbelly extravaganza... there's a giant corn maze, lots of rides and games,... we all had a BLAST!!! Then we went back to my parents, had cake and she opened her presents and then Val watched the kids at home while Cody and I doubled with my parents for dinner at IHOP and then to the movies play in the arcade and to see Taken 2.

Sunday was our last day. We went to Sacrament meeting, and then hurried to finish packing and left to go home with the truck and trailer full of goodies from my parents and things my grandma was giving us (a sectional couch, table/chairs, etc.) My dad gave Cody a TON of tools... Cody is ECSTATIC! It took a while to get home, but we made it... the kids all fell asleep in the truck, and we carried them in, realized my Suburban's battery died... charged it, backed up the trailer into the garage, emptied the back of the truck, realigned the truck and the suv, admired the many stars on such a clear night, turned on the baseboard heaters, took a deep breath from our travels, set our alarms (Cody's for 4:30-he has trials tomorrow) and mine for 6:30 (fall break is over...kids go back to school)... it was a great visit!

Surprise

I adore my husband... for many reasons. One of those reasons is he is spontaneous. Today he brought home a gift that he had made especially for me. On the front it is CtR (meaning CTR and C+R aka-- choose the right/Cody and Richelle) When I opened the jewelry box, inside was a necklace. On the front it says our couple theme: "Forever isn't long enough". Engraved on the back says Cody and Richelle. I know, I know, you are awwing right now... and yes, I cried with happiness knowing how much Cody loves me. On the other hand, I don't need trinkets for him to show me that he loves me. I know that by the way he treats me, how he loves to hold my hand, through his endless kisses and sweet things that he says to me. He always tells me he loves me, and that I am beautiful. I always feel loved.

October Already??

I can't believe it is October already! Things have really been crazy around here. We've moved into our new house :) But everything is still pretty much in boxes. Today is the first day of General Conference... it was announced that boy missionaries will start being called on missions when they are 18 (instead of 19) and girls will be 19 (instead of 21). There is also going to be a temple built in Tuscon, AZ!

Cody has been called as the Elders Quorum President. That keeps him really busy. I have two callings... CTR 6-7 primary teacher and the scout committee chair... between that and moving, and being a full time mom, and a full time student, I am feeling pretty overwhelmed. I know I have help from Heavenly Father, but there has been times where tears have been shed. Thank goodness I have the priesthood in my home. Cody gave me a blessing and I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders, but I do still feel overwhelmed. I just need to try to take one day at a time, and stop looking at all the boxes I have to unpack and all the final exams I need to study for.

Living in a house has so many perks. I get to play the piano again! (without worries of upstairs neighbors) I am so glad we have our new flooring in. It looks fantastic! And most of the painting is done... still need to do some touchups and paint the Arizona rooms and the guest suite that is behind the garage.

Cody just got back from a week away at a Prosecutor Conference... I think that is why I was so overwhelmed as well. I am so glad he is back :) Right now he's at the General Priesthood Session, and then he needs to run to work because he didn't get to work last week due to the conference, and still has court on Monday... yikes! oh well... nothing but conference tomorrow! And we are planning on going to Utah next week for my mom's 51st birthday. I am in desperate need of a date. There is just SO much on our plates right now, that we've just put it off for a few weeks and just watched some tv here with ice cream and foot rubs. That works too, and just spending time with Cody makes me happy, but I can't wait till we're in Utah where I already have my sister lined up so we can go out by ourselves and go on an official "date".

It's getting cooler at night, and the leaves here have just started to change... I love FALL! Now to find all of our sweaters in our boxes...

Westin Resort

Cody is spending the week at the Westin Resort in Phoenix for a prosecutor conference (it is hard to spell it with an "i" instead of an "o")... we went up and spent the night in the hotel with him because we miss him so much, and I'm letting the kids stay home from school tomorrow :) They had a blast in the resort, and we went for lots of long walks around the area to go out to eat and stuff... it was fun!
